What are the post-processing after 3D printing?

Hand Polished
This is a method applicable to all kinds of 3D prints. However, manual polishing of metal parts is laborious and time-consuming.

Sandblasting
One of the commonly used metal polishing processes, which is applicable to metal 3D prints with less complex structures.

Adaptive lapping
A new type of grinding process uses semi elastic grinding tools, such as spherical flexible grinding head, to grind the metal surface. This process can grind some relatively complex surfaces, and the surface roughness Ra can reach below 10nm.

Laser polishing
Laser polishing is a new polishing method, which uses high-energy laser beam to re melt the surface materials of parts to reduce the surface roughness. At present, the surface roughness Ra of laser polished parts is about 2~3 μ m。 However, the price of laser polishing equipment is relatively high, and the use of laser polishing equipment in metal 3D printing post-processing is still relatively small (still a little expensive).

chemical polishing
Use chemical solvents to parallel the metal surface. It is more suitable for porous structure and hollow structure, and its surface roughness can reach 0.2~1 μ m.

Abrasive flow machining
Abrasive flow machining (AFM) is a surface treatment process, which uses a mixed liquid mixed with abrasives. Under the effect of pressure, it flows over the metal surface to remove burrs and polish the surface. It is suitable for polishing or grinding some metal 3D printing pieces with complex structures, especially for grooves, holes and cavities.

JSADD 3D’s 3D printing services include SLA, SLS, SLM, CNC and Vacuum Casting. When the finished product is printed, if the customer needs subsequent post-processing services, JSADD 3D will respond to the customer’s requirements 24 hours a day.
